Liverpool Music Week

Posted by on October 21, 2005 9:12 PM

Hello Pickers of Pop.Now pay attention.....no really pay attention listen up , swing back your ears and stand to attention. Liverpool Music week is not far away and its your duty to get your boney asses off the chair and head out and check out the bands on show. Liverpool music week is happening from the 20th November ( for a week funnily enough) and further infoage can be found at this domain - WWW.LIVERPOOLMUSICWEEK.CO.UK

Its been a funny old week in my world , one of the bizzarest things is the fact that my hands are shrinking. Its true. Ive looked through the medical books and checked out doctorwhatsup.com with no satisfying results. Its quite scary. Gloves don’t fit me . No one sees me wave goodbye and worst of all I carnt wave my hands in the air like i dont care anymore. Its starting to look odd. I am 6'3 with long limbs , but blobs for hands. I blame all the blog writing I have been doing, it has wore my fingers down. What’s next on the shrinkage list..........

Are Merseymusic the best supporter of unsigned music in the city , I like to think so.Merseymusic have been banging the drum for so long. There are other promotion sites but to me they do seem to have lost their way by going national promoters which is losing the goal , isn’t it? Continually pushing Merseymusic can take its toll and we hit many walls and turning of heads. With 08 and the city of culture slowly rearing its head in the background I would hope Merseymusic can play a pioneering role in the promotion of one of the city’s primary cultures, music. I am writing this out of frustration at not getting support from certain bodies of power which should be embracing our new music and wearing it on their sleeve. Instead when looking for sponsorship to promote bands and new artists we get voicemail and non email reply. We get promised meetings which are cancelled and verbal that holds no promise. We battled hard last year and received sponsorship from a government music body which helped us progress with site improvements , including radio and a more accessible site. I often ask myself why do I continue to head out of a week night and frequent quarter full venues and review bands. Why do I keep trying to open doors for artists , search for different platforms of promotion. The answer is easy , the music has to be heard and grow , if not we will all still be humming Beatles tunes in the year 2028.Over the past week we have taken on board two new reviewers who give their time fro zip , that keeps my fire alight and keeps the mojo rising.
